Why should taxpayers continue to subsidize the super rich of America and namely the oil and gas behemoths that continue to pump out billions in profits year after year? This is a fair question that Mike Kelly fails to address except in his partisan rhetoric about keeping the tax cuts for the super rich and taxpayer subsidies in place for big oil. Kelly is a direct beneficiary of both programs and cannot be counted on, let alone, trusted to vote for legislation that would end such corporate welfare programs for the mega-rich. As the 21st richest member of Congress, Kelly was born into family wealth by the fact that his dad was a successful car dealer and he married a Phillips petroleum heiress.
Kelly cries about class warfare and being, “too rich and too successful and too greedy” and the poor clamor, “we need, we need...,” well, you can't tax the poor. The rich have it and can and must be taxed! Will the rich come running to the government the next time they're in trouble? Count on it! Will they share their prosperity with American workers? Don't bet on it!
Kelly jaunts off on an AIPAC sponsored trip to Israel while his constituents rally at his Erie office demanding the jobs and job training Kelly promised! No government can serve two masters and Americans need to know how their representatives are being influenced and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. Kelly's capitulation to AIPAC only demonstrates how Congress has been co-opted by powerful lobbyists and campaign cash.
When Rev. Sharpton called Kelly out on his duplicitous support of subsidies for big oil and gas all while being a millionaire investor in the very companies he seeks to protect he only proved the point that, “America has the best politicians money can buy”.
