Even Santa Cannot Meet The Needs Of The Children Who Selflessly Wish For Something Other People Need And Not Something For Themselves |
THE GOOD NEWS IS SANTA IS GOING TO WORK HIS MAGIC AS HE DOES EVERY YEAR AND MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE.
FOR THE POST OFFICE WORKERS WHO READ THESE LETTERS, THEY MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HOOK UP ONE OF THESE DESERVING KIDS WITH A SECRET SANTA WHO MAY BE ABLE TO GRANT THEIR WISH.
But every year, there is that one letter that stands out from the rest. There is always at least one letter that is filled with sadness and heartache. There is always at least one letter that is missing the joys and innocence of childhood. There is always at least one letter that asks Santa Claus for a very big request. That heartbreaking letter asks Santa to bring food to the table or a job for dad. It asks for new tires so mom can stop walking to work or to make their baby brother not sick any longer. It pleads with complete innocence that it is hard to be good all the time when you are hungry and Mom is crying all the time, and even harder to be good when dad left and never returned.
That is when the letters get to me and my heart begins to ache. Sometimes it feels as if I can actually see the pain and sadness in the scribbled words on the paper. It is very disturbing to know there are children that are dealing with adult issues and emotions that they cannot understand.
I believe Christmas time is truly a season for miracles. There is asense of magic that lingers in the air. I believe that Santa Clausis a very powerful belief to the young and the young at heart aswell. I believe that Santa represents hope and happiness in manydifferent forms. However, I believe that some requests are simplytoo enormous for the big man in the red suit to fill. But in thecase of nothing more, I believe that Santa Claus brings hope toeven the hopeless, and that can truly be a miracle.
