Joe Moriera Had The Exreme Outside Posr, Blasted Out Of The Gate And Cut Across The Whole Field Of Horses Going Right To The Front And Led All The Way - Gate To Wire _ A Brilliant Ride Beat Super Chalk Able Friend The Quinella Was Chalk City With The Win Paying More Than The Quinella
JOURNEYMAN JOCKEY RYAN MOORE, JUST 32, WON THE OTHER 2 MAJOR STAKES RACES..., RACE 4 TURF DISTANCE - 2400 METERS = 1 AND ONE HALF MILES, THE HONG KONG VASE WITH #11 HIGHLAND REEL - A BRILLIANT RIDE...,
MOORE'S OTHER HUGE WINE WAS IN RACE 7, THE LONGINE'S HONG KONG MILE WITH MAURICE WHO BEAT THE CHALK FAVORITE ABLE FRIEND HANDILY.
SO IT WAS A HUGE DAY OF RACING IN HONG KONG AND IN THE WORLD OF THOROUGHBREDS. FUNNY THING IS, NONE OF THE PAYOFFS AMOUNTED TO MUCH, IT WAS CHALK CITY WITH FEW LONGSHOTS OR HORSES WITH A PRICE ON THE ENTIRE CARD.
ALSO, THE SHA TIN TRACK SORT OF SUCKS. WHY? BECAUSE IT HAS A HUGE FAR TURN THAT THE FIELD OF HORSES MUST NAVIGATE AND THE EARLY SPEED USUALLY WILL BE IN THE MONEY. IT'S A DIFFICULT TRACK FOR LATE CLOSERS AND THE HORSES RUN AROUND THE TRACK GOING RIGHT VERSUS THE AMERICAN TRACKS THAT GO LEFT. THIS IS THE WAY THE AUSSIES DO IT TOO. OH WELL, MY DREAMS OF CASHING A BIG TICKET WAS SMASHED BY ALL THE FAVORITES COMING IN BUT I DID GET TO SEE SOME OF THE WORLD GREAT HORSES RUN.
ONE NOTE, AMERICAN JOCKEY FLORENT GEROUX [FRENCHMAN NOW AMERICAN LEADING JOCKEY] WAS IN HONG KONG WITH TOP AMERICAN JOCKEY JOEL ROSARIO TO RIDE LIVE MOUNTS IN THE SPRINT. GEROUX TOOK HIS MOUNT, "MONGOLIAN SATURDAY", RIGHT TO THE HEAD OF THE FIELD, BUT AS HE NAVIGATED THE HARD RIGHT TURN, THE HORSE WENT WIDE WHICH WAS COSTLY, LOSING GROUND AND POSITION AND ULTIMATELY LEAVING GEROUX NO CHANCE TO FINISH IN THE MONEY AS THE HORSE DROPPED BACK IN THE FIELD. TOO BAD, I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE AN AMERICAN SOCK IT TO THOSE COMMIES.
